Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer invited Central Florida residents and visitors to kick off the holiday season at the annual Downtown for the Holidays Tree Lighting Celebration.
The highlight of this free event was the lighting of the City’s 72-foot Christmas tree. Attendees helped with the countdown to the lighting of the tree’s 88,000 animated lights and a 15-minute Eola Wonderland Christmas tree show, where the tree became alive to a synchronized light and music show with Lake Eola fountain.
Entertainment included holiday performances from the Trinity Lutheran School Christmas musical, Encore! Cast Performing Arts which will include more than 100 Disney Cast members and their families and Violectric an electric orchestra playing holiday favorites.
The event also featured festival vendors and TheDailyCity.com Food Truck Bazaar offering food and drinks for purchase.
The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program, which helps more than 3,500 underprivileged children, was present accepting donations.
IDignity was also in attendance to provide information on how the community can assist in the efforts to help disadvantaged residents obtain personal identification.
