WHAT: Help shine a light on autism spectrum disorder during the Glow It Up Blue 5K Run to benefit Autism Speaks, this weekend, at Seminole Towne Center, serving northern Seminole and western Volusia Counties.
Two races will help draw attention to autism spectrum disorder – a Saturday late night 5K complete with blue lights, special effects and amazing sound and glow, and a Sunday morning run with music and fun. Participants can also sign-up for the “Double Dare” and complete both 5Ks. All participants will receive a special Autism Awareness finisher medal, among other great perks for their participation.
The event coincides with World Autism Awareness Day, observed on April 2. It was adopted by the United Nations in 2007 to shine a bright light on autism as a growing global health priority. Every year on World Autism Awareness Day, Autism Speaks celebrates its international “Light It Up Blue” campaign. Individuals, everywhere, wear blue in honor of the community and are encouraged to change at least one light in their house or building to blue.
